A significant milestone was reached in the construction of a new inland vessel with the official keel laying ceremony held recently. The event marked the traditional start of the ship’s construction and included the ceremonial branding of the vessel’s unique identification number.
During the ceremony, the official brand mark was applied to the keel, in the presence of key stakeholders:
-
Bart Jongeneelen, Project Manager, MSVA Shipbuilding
-
Tjeerd Arts, Naval Architect, Inec Naval Architects
-
Ton van Meegen, CEO, PortLiner and Representative, HM Konmax BV
-
Rene Julicher, Official, Dutch Land Registry (Kadaster)
Following the branding, the official Brandmark Certificate and the corresponding Kadaster Document were issued, confirming the vessel's registration and identity. A formal letter of authorization from the Royal House of the Netherlands was also received, granting permission to use the name of Her Majesty the Queen in association with the vessel.
Additionally, the Steel Certification Documents for the materials used in the keel section were presented, ensuring compliance with all applicable quality and classification standards.
This ceremony not only celebrates the start of the physical construction but also reinforces the vessel’s legal and technical foundation. The collaboration between naval architects, shipbuilders, classification authorities, and government institutions reflects the high standards and tradition of Dutch shipbuilding.
